For Norm Cotone, it all began at age seven with an accordion in Cleveland, Ohio. Rooted in Rock & Roll, he spent 35 years singing and playing piano in bands across Northeast Ohio and the country. In 1998, Norm became Music Director of St. John Bosco Church and fell in love with creating music for liturgy.
In 2009, he released his debut solo album Universal Language. This 12-song collection of original Christian music was inspired by scripture and Norm’s faith. These piano-driven selections were brought to life in collaboration with producers Rick Elias and Jeff Thomas, who have worked with Christian music’s top artists, including Matt Maher, Amy Grant, and Michael W. Smith.
2019 ushered in the release of Songs of Comfort and Remembrance which features 12 classic hymns played and sung with Norm’s signature interpretation. With the expertise of producer Ed Bolduc, Norm takes these classic songs and delivers them in a new way, infusing the music with soul and the lyric with wholeheartedness. This album features performances with his wife, Donnalee, and children, Kari Lynn and Chris.
Norm continues to serve the church community of St. John Bosco and is confident in God’s plan for his life. He is grateful for every part of his journey, especially the opportunity to pray with others longing to connect with their faith through music and worship.
